Oil on Canvas, 24x30 inches. Contemplation, or a self-reflection. The boy sits beneath a large tree staring into the water's reflection, symbolizing his own reflection within himself because he is isolated and away from other people. Nature isolates him from the rest of the world so the painting focuses on him and only his surroundings, the space around him symbolic for that enclosure and his thoughts and the large tree provides this base for this thought, a place to rest and sort out himself. The sun is just barely noticeable in the reflection only, not the actual sky, emphasizing the inner contemplation within the reflection/within the young boy. The boy's bag shows that he is on some sort of journey, but here it is a journey to find himself. Also, his face isn't meant to be seen, it is my way of showing that anyone and everyone is looking for or into themselves at some point.
