Calling Cthulhu

- Calling Cthulhu -

Description by ElwenAldalinde

This was my first multi-plate print. I used asphaltum ground (or tar ground) on the first plate, and that brought forth the line work. The second plate was sort of a soap ground (or white ground) painted on to give the watercolor effect to the tentacles. I don\'t remember why I chose to do a Cthonian cultist calling up Cthulhu from the depths of Ryle\'h...but it was fun!

Hey, these grounds have not been familiar to me, they sound really exciting and the result is wonderfully interesting! What is the reason of the different colour of the upper and the lower part? Were they made on these two different grounds? The composition is remarkable, too. And this is only for the technical-artistic part. The theme is completely new for me as well and seems also exciting. (Now I had a look on it in Wikipedia.)
